Sweet taste is naturally pleasant to people and sugar is a main source of energy in our diet. Cane sugar is a high quality alternative to commonly available sugar. It is made from sugar cane by a process of pressing and then by cooking the obtained juice. In addition to that, this cane sugar contains molasses as well, which is the remains after the process when sugar is obtained from the sugar cane.
Sugar cane is a high, massive grass that can grow up to 6 meters. Its stalks contain pulp with a sugar content of about 20%. Sugar cane grows in tropical areas with rich soil only. In the Czech Republic, we have known cane sugar since the time of Crusade Wars. At the beginning, cane sugar was rather rarity, it has expanded with imports from the American continent. During Napoleon times, sugar cane was replaced by beet sugar, but has begun returning to our kitchens recently again.
Organic sugar cane will be appreciated primarily by consumers with an interest in organic farming and a sustainable farming system. Organic food always goes through a system of checks and certifications that ensures their quality and enables them to bear this designation.
