Sugarcane is a tall massive grass, which can grow up to 6 meters. The stalks are pulp with about 20% sugar content. It occurs only in tropical areas with rich soil. Cane sugar is produced from sugarcane together with its by-product called molasses. Sometimes it is also called "black gold" or "black miracle". In North America, molasses was a very popular sweetener until the end of the last century. You can still find it in many traditional American cakes and puddings recipes.
Organic food always goes through a system of controls and certification that ensures their quality and allows them to bear this label. Their bio-quality will be especially appreciated by people interested in organic farming and a sustainable farming system.
