Description
Hojicha belongs to a group of the roasted green teas. Thanks to roasting it gets brown and has a distinctive aroma with walnut to cinnamon undertones. It is grown similarly to Sencha under direct sunlight. A large amount of catechin, which has antioxidant effects, accumulates in its leaves as protection against UVB radiation. During roasting, caffeine is almost eliminated from the tea leaves. Therefore, Hojicha is suitable for all-day and evening sipping and can be enjoyed in limited amounts by women and children. In winter, you will be pleasantly encouraged. In summer - do not forget to try it in an ice-cooled version!
Unlike other types of green tea, Hojicha green tea has a lower caffeine content and therefore you can sip it all day long and enjoy it even during the evening without worrying about falling asleep. After harvest, the Hojicha tea leaves are gently roasted which gives them a pleasantly sweet to nutty taste. Hojicha tastes with meals as it supports optimal digestion and neutralises the taste of individual dishes. Therefore, it is suitable for drinking between food courses or before dessert. In summer you can prepare Hojichu ice tea.
