The legendary purely alkaline mineral water of Bílina springs in the Central Bohemian Central Highlands near the town of Bílina and is drawn from the depth of 190.8 m. It is further pressurised by underground pipeline and accumulated in the reservoirs at a constant temperature. From these reservoirs, it is filled in a modern underground bottling plant without any modifications. This gentle process allows to maintain the original amount of finely dissolved carbon dioxide that is essential for the delicious flavour.
The first mention of the medicinal springs of Bílina can be traced back to 1541. In 1733, the water started to be used in Teplice spa for the gout treatment, and in 1781, the first bottling place was built. In 1831, the Bílina mineral water is listed in the national treasures list. In the nineteenth century, the mineral water was already exported to both North and South America, and a total of up to 5 million bottles were dispatched per year. Nowadays, a new type of technology has been launched to provide the historically highest-quality process of collecting and bottling of the Bílina mineral water.
The salty taste of the Bílina mineral water is not given by the presence of salt. It is given by hydrogen carbonate. The Bílina mineral water contains only a tiny amount of salt, four times less than the amount of salt contained in milk.
